MASJID TANAH, MELAKA, 12-14 September 2025 – The Academic Officers Association of Universiti Putra Malaysia (PPAUPM), in collaboration with the community of Kampung Paya Lebar, successfully organized the Community and Society Engagement Program (JINM) entitled “Uwan… PPA Masuk Kampung” over three days, from 12 to 14 September 2025.

The program aimed to strengthen ties between UPM’s academic staff and the local community through various educational, social, and community-based activities.

Throughout the three-day program, five main activities were conducted, namely:

• “Uwan… PPA masuk sungai” (river exploration and environmental conservation activity),
• “Uwan… PPA pegang kuali” (cooking demonstration and sharing session with the community),
• “Uwan… PPA kongsi ilmu” (knowledge-sharing and expertise session),
• “Uwan… PPA bakar-bakar” (casual barbecue activity with the villagers), and
• “Uwan… PPA bersih kampung” (gotong-royong [communal clean-up] at Masjid At-Taqwa, Kampung Paya Lebar).

President of the Academic Officers Association of UPM, YBhg. Prof. Jalila Abu, stated that the program not only fostered closer relations between academic staff and the community but also provided opportunities for UPM academics to contribute their expertise, ideas, and energy to society.

PPAUPM also expressed its deepest appreciation to the Chairman and Imam of Masjid At-Taqwa, Kampung Paya Lebar, for their cooperation, support, and warm reception throughout the program. Without the strong support of the village leadership and the mosque institution, this program would not have been successfully implemented.

PPAUPM hopes that such initiatives can be continued and further expanded in the future. Sincere appreciation is extended to all parties involved in making this program a success.
